5 Best Wedding Trends This Year
As we move into 2025, the wedding industry is evolving to meet the desires of modern couples who are looking for more than just traditional celebrations.
From bold color palettes to immersive guest experiences, the upcoming year will see a fresh wave of creativity and personalization in wedding trends. Here are five key trends to expect in weddings for 2025:
1. BOLD COLOR PALETTES AND LINEN PRINT PATTERNS
While pastel and neutral tones have dominated weddings for years, 2025 will be a year for bold, rich color palettes. So many couples lean towards a safe neutrals and green color palette.
We are seeing couples beginning to embrace bright jewel tones like emerald green, bright blue, and rich rose red, paired with metallic accents in gold for a sophisticated yet dramatic effect (we LOVE a gold silverware option!).
We’ll also see more mixing of vibrant patterns—floral prints, geometric designs, and artistic color blocking will make their way into bridal party attire, floral arrangements, and table settings. The goal will be to create a visually striking and energetic celebration that reflects the couple’s personalities.
FOR MY DMV COUPLES: Check out a Select Event Group showroom to see all they have to offer in the way of textured, colorful linens. Opting for a eclectic linen for a few cocktail tables or 5' rounds in your reception space can add an immense amount of personality and instantly elevate the look of the room.
For mismatched glassware as shown above, check out Hazelwood Rentals, and tell Darian I said hi!
2. INTERACTIVE AND IMMERSIVE GUEST EXPERIENCES
The traditional sit-down dinner and dance party are being replaced by interactive and immersive experiences for guests. Not everyone on your guest list will be down to cut some rug for 2-3 hours.
Some of our 2025 couples are electing for a destination wedding ceremony, and a looser, casual reception at 'home.' We LOVE this, as it allows the couple to focus on enjoying their day with less ridgid timelines and more of a focus on natural celebration and partying.
Think personalized wedding experiences that engage all the senses. In 2025, couples will be incorporating live guest illustrators, Full Size Phone Booth Audio Guest Books (ask about our gorgeous rental now available!), and interactive food stations that allow guests to engage in the celebration in unique ways. Couples may also opt for destination weddings or experiential events that offer guests activities like cooking classes, wine tastings, or group adventure experiences. The focus will be on creating lasting memories, not just for the couple but for all attendees.

"IMEREDITH IS TRULY THE BEST EVER. I COULD NOT HAVE DONE OUR DAY WITHOUT HER AND WOULD HIRE HER 100000X AGAIN. SHE IS ONE OF THE NICEST HUMANS I HAVE EVER MET. I FELT LIKE SHE TRULY UNDERSTOOD MY VISION AND WAS PREPARED FOR EVERYTHING. HER EMERGENCY KIT SAVED MY DRESS... LITERALLY. ETERNALLY GRATEFUL." – Carolyn M.
3. Sustainable, Eco and Budget Friendly Features
Eco-consciousness is more than just a trend; it’s becoming a core value for many couples. In 2025, sustainability will continue to be a top priority, with couples opting for zero-waste weddings, biodegradable decorations, and eco-friendly venues. The emphasis will be on locally sourced food, reusable décor, and reducing the environmental impact of weddings overall.
Expect to see more couples choosing venues that align with their sustainability values, such as farms, botanical gardens, and eco-resorts. DIY bud vases with Trader Joes stems are a great way to save some of the budget for a statement making floral installation. Digital invitations with QR code RSVPing opposed to mail-in replies are becoming the new norms for conscious couples.
Sustainable wedding attire has become the norm as well. Whether you have a $130k budget, or $30k, visiting a sustainable bridal shop near you is a responsible and exciting move. All of the stock in these shops are in brand new condition, and no they are not cursed (lol). It is more common than you'd think for brides to order their dress too far in advance and had dress regret. In these scenario, the customer can sell their gown to these shops, and then you get it for less! Win-win-win!
HOW TO: Rent signage to avoid creating additional waste. Ask your guests to reuse their cups and drinkware, or rent glass drinkware opposed to single use cups. Talk to your florist and planner abotu repurposing your floral arrangements (ceremony arch moved to entrance of reception area/behind sweetheart table) or if they offer donation programs. Some local florists (Rachel S., Sunset Florals) will take your unwanted flowers to assisted living facilities, which we absolutely love.
4. Alternative Dessert Options
Alternative dessert options to the traditional wedding sheet cake have become increasingly popular for couples looking to add a unique touch to their celebration. One option is a dessert table featuring a variety of sweet treats like macarons, cookies, and mini cupcakes, allowing guests to sample different flavors. A tiered display of artisanal donuts or a gourmet doughnut wall can also provide a fun, interactive element.
For those seeking a more elegant touch, plated desserts such as chocolate mousse, panna cotta, or fruit tarts offer a refined experience. Couples might also opt for a dessert buffet with chocolate fountains, mini cheesecakes, or custom ice cream bars and carts (ask for our local recs!), giving guests the freedom to customize their own creations. These alternatives not only reflect personal tastes but also create a memorable experience that goes beyond the traditional wedding cake.
Eclectic Tablescape Design and MisMatched Reception Table Shapes
The trend of mixing table shapes, such as pairing long 8-foot farmhouse tables with round 5-foot tables, or even community style tables has gained significant popularity in recent years for wedding receptions. This combination adds a dynamic, eclectic feel to the event, offering both visual interest and functional flexibility. The long farmhouse tables often serve as focal points for the head table or family-style dining, creating a sense of intimacy and togetherness, while the round tables provide a more traditional, easy-to-converse setup for guests. The contrast between the two shapes helps balance the overall atmosphere, blending rustic charm with elegance.
Couples love the versatility of this trend, as it allows them to play with different decor styles, such as incorporating assorted colored linen napkins, centerpieces, and linens. Additionally, this layout can be tailored to fit a variety of venue sizes and guest counts, creating a relaxed yet sophisticated vibe. By mixing table shapes, couples can achieve a more personalized, stylish, and comfortable wedding reception that feels both modern and timeless.
TIP: Be sure to speak with your planner or rental representative about the proper size for your linen. We like to see the edge of the linen brush, or slightly puddle onto the ground. When the hem of a linen is too high, seeing the tables legs can impact the feel of luxury within your event. (For example; a 120" linen will properly fit a 32" high top cocktail table and a 5'/60" round that seats 8 people.)
